An antique French monkey violinist automaton, circa 1870s, marked made in France M & C to musical mechanism, housed in a large glass dome above an ebonised base, featuring the well, attired seated monkey with his violin within a naturalistic rockwork and vegetated bower with fabric and wire flowers, natural grasses, feathers, with key, height 27.56 in., width 24.80 in., depth 11.42 in.
