There is another man in the forward cockpit. This photo was probably taken on or before the 4th December, 1921 when three Bristols flew from Perth's unofficial airport at Langley park to Geraldton in preparation for the first airline service between Geraldton and Derby. A plaque to that effect is located at Derby Airport. Australia's first airmail contract was awarded to Western Australian Airways limited (Waa) Norman Brearley (later Sir Norman) DSO, MC, AFC, mid Australia's first licensed pilot (23rd August 1921) was the founder of Western Australian Airways limited.
