Boer War: tapestry (26.77 in. x 26.77 in.) embroidered in red & blue silk, headed '1899 - Boer war - 1900 - 1901 - 1902' with the dates of major conflicts bordering the embroidered signatures of Colonial combatants usually showing their brigade/regiment beneath - names in blue indicating naval personnel & names in red indicating army personnel. 'Signatures' include Lord Roberts and Lord Stanley, some Australian signatures sighted including 'A Watson.MD.FRCS' (Archibald Watson), also 1900 (July 11) letter signed by Lord Roberts when stationed in Pretoria., the tapestry is stated to have been completed by an army nursing Sister on board troopship Hmt Dunera whilst in transit to the conflict.
