A ceremonial Mace head, Rennell Island, 19th century. Laboriously carved from a single bruised piece of stone. The blade is sickle shaped with small lossess suggesting use. The two sides of the blade each feature a medial ridge running down its length with raised lines flanding the ridge. Length 12.01 in., width 6.69 in., depth 0.87 in. Provenance: Private Collection, Aotearoa. Previously of a private collection Honiara, Solomon Islands
