Central Italian school first half 15th century, the Virgin and child enthroned and crowned by two angels, with St Francis and St Anthony Abbot, tempera and gold leaf with punchwork on wood panel with engaged frame, 24.41 in. x 18.70 in. overall, including the engaged frame. Provenance: acquired by the vendor's parents in Italy some time before their emigration to Australia in 1972. Other Notes it has been suggested that the work was painted in the Marche or adjacent regions, perhaps Umbria or Abruzzo.
