A superb large 18th century patu onewa, a rare and important Maori stone hand club carved in greywacke variety stone. Long fine spatulate shaped blade reducing to a tapered oval cross-section grip terminating in a five ridged butt with countersunk suspension hole. Small chips to blade. Provenance: Ex Webster collection. Length 18.11 in.
