A burr walnut veneer writing box, late 19th century, with walnut banding to the lid and sides with contrasting edges, the sloped lid with a brass shield decoration and a conforming escutcheon, opening to an arrangement of ink wells, two small drawers, and a pencil tray; writing slope absent.
